The first total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) was performed in 1997 by Dr. Bhumsi J Wadia and his team at the Priti Hospital, Prayagraj. TLH is a surgical procedure in which the uterus is removed through small incisions in the abdomen, using laparoscopic instruments and a laparoscope (a thin, flexible tube with a camera on the end).

TLH has several advantages over traditional open surgery for hysterectomy, including less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster recovery time. It is also associated with fewer complications and a lower risk of infection. TLH is now a common and widely accepted procedure for the treatment of various gynecological conditions, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and uterine cancer.
